Duration Sure Nail Technology

Owens Corning is our preferred material that we use for roofing shingles. In the video above I explain the difference between a competitor roofing shingle and the Duration Shingles by Owens Corning that we use.

ROOFING SHINGLE DIFFERENCES

On the competitor shingle, the area where the nail is supposed to go is extremely small. The issue here is that when the shingles overlap, it can leave these nails exposed. If they are exposed for a long period of time they’ll be exposed to water and potentially rust. For this reason we use a Duration shingle that has the Sure Nail strip embedded into the shingle itself. These give a good amount of clearance for the next shingle to line up making sure to cover any exposed nails. These shingles also hold nails extremely well, while others pull out easily. This allows these shingles to handle big winds and tough weather much better.

It's not available on all Owens Corning's products, but it is on the Duration series. So keep that in mind when you're comparing different shingle manufacturers and styles.
