Resilient Roofing Awarded As Finalist Of 2022 BBB Torch Awards For Ethics

On September 7, our company had the honor of being recognized by the Better Business Bureau as a finalist for 2022’s BBB Torch Awards for Ethics.

Resilient Roofing is firmly committed to operating at the highest standards of integrity and ethics, taking care of our customers and employees by providing a safe work environment to do the best work we can. We believe that it is any company’s obligation to be honest and responsible with the work that they do. This award affirms that Resilient Roofing is meeting and exceeding these obligations in both our business practices and community involvement.

We use our expertise in the roofing industry to give our customers the best possible value. Occasionally, this leads to some difficult decisions, as since we are bound by a strict ethical code, we sometimes need to walk away from jobs that would be unethical to complete. For example, sometimes a customer will come to us looking for a roof replacement, however our experts inspect the roof and it only needs a repair. Could we make more money if we replaced it anyway? Absolutely. Is the customer often willing to pay for a full replacement? Yes. Would it be the right thing to do? Absolutely not.

Conversely, we often have situations in which a customer will want their roof repaired, however our technicians find that a repair is not feasible for the roof and we have to inform the customer that unfortunately a repair is not possible since the condition of the roof is bad enough that a repair would not solve the problem for a meaningful amount of time. Sure, we could patch this leak, but when another one pops up in a couple months that one will need its own repair. The cost of repairs will quickly add up to more than the cost of a new roof, and the customer would be left with a mismatch of patches that still hasn’t fixed the root problem. Could we take the money and do a repair anyway? Yes. But again, that wouldn’t be the right thing to do.

Beyond our commercial work, we also give back to the community through our charity partners. Through World Housing, we fund a complete new home for a family in need, and through our partners in the San Diego Humane Society, San Diego Food Bank, and Wounded Warrior Project, we have helped to rehabilitate dozens of animals, provide thousands of meals, and fund dozens of warriors’ participation in Project Odyssey.

This award is a testament to both the skill and dedication of our employees in providing expert, honest service, as well as the excellent workmanship of the roofs that they are able to provide. We’re extremely proud of every one of our employees across every level of the company for the work that they have done to solidify Resilient’s place among the most ethical companies in the San Diego region.

We would also like to congratulate all of the other companies who were honored at the event. It was inspiring to see so many businesses across so many industries working to make San Diego a better place.
